*13 feet of Goaltending in 2011-12

*Mitch and Coach "Blanch".
|
Now in his 14th season with the Nashville Predators (and 21st in the NHL), Mitch previously spent seven seasons as the Goaltender Coach for the Buffalo Sabres organization.
His hard work, superb communication skills, ability to “dissect" a goalie’s game, and great sense of humor has gained him the respect and friendship of those he has coached and worked with at all levels. In 2010, “The Hockey News” chose Mitch as “one of the top 10 Genius’ in hockey”.
Fondly referred to as “Children of the Korn” (a phrase coined by Predator head coach Barry Trotz) these current and former goalies (many of whom are now coaching) have benefited from and helped spread the “goalie gospel according to Mitch”.
Besides having coached present and former pro goalies Pekka Rinne, Anders Lindback, Chris Mason, Dan Ellis, Marty Biron, Ty Conklin, Mark Dekanich, Dominik Hasek, Tomas Vokoun, Drew MacIntyre, Jeremy Smith, Atte Engren, Chet Pickard and Mike McKenna, Mitch has coached and influenced many others who have (in the past) or who are currently coaching professionally. They include: Mike Valley (Dallas), Corey Hirsch (St. Louis), Clint Malarchuk (Calgary), Olaf Kolzig (Washington), Mike Dunham (Islanders), Wade Flaherty (Winnipeg), Grant Fuhr (formerly Phoenix), Steve McKichan (formerly Toronto), Ben Vanderklok (Milwaukee-AHL for Nashville), Mike Bales (Wilkes Barre – AHL for Pittsburgh) and Bob Janosz (Rochester-AHL for Buffalo).
In addition, Mitch has trained countless others who now are in the "goalie business" coaching and training a "new generation" of goaltenders at various levels. Some include Nick Petraglia, Chris Economou, Josh Hand, Bill Pye, Aaron Kinslow, Alan Avery, Karl Goehring, Laura Pecchia, Shane Connelly, Mike Lane, Steve Briere, Richard Shulmistra, Steve Shields, etc. Mitch is truly a teacher and a mentor.
Mitch has 35 years of organizing and running summer hockey programs. Mitch will personally do all the coaching for each Goalie Camp. He is absolutely “hands on”.

- Mitch teaches all aspects of the Goalie Schools.
- Who can match 21
years of NHL coaching?
- Does anyone have a better resume of pupils?
- Our system is not just theory...it works!
- Our Defenseman Program is run by Norm McCauley and Patrick Higgins. Nobody breaks down the position better than Norm and Patrick.
- Mitch will personally answer any question you have via phone or email.
- We just don't hammer pucks at the goalies.
WE TEACH!
- Each goalie will definitely be a much smarter goalie when they finish with our camps.

Congrats on a great season. On behalf of all past goaltenders and true hockey fans, thank you for showing how the position should be played. For too many years, goaltenders have become blockers and not goaltenders and through your efforts, you have shown the hockey world the way the position should be played. Coaches all over the country are telling goalies to be blockers and not use their athleticism. Thank YOU for showing, through your goaltender that being athletic, instinctive and trusting your mind/body, you can be very successful. Every coach but you and Coach Petraglia at Miami has tried to change Evan into a blocker (which he has never done). You showing how the position should be played is not only appreciated and a breath of fresh air, but it is what the hockey world needed. So from an old goaltender and a diehard goaltending family, thank YOU, thank YOU, thank YOU...Great job!

Coach Korn, thank you to you and your staff for an incredible week of Goalie camp in Nashville! Haydon Hurt was so excited every single day to come to camp! Not one day was there a problem getting him up - he was so pumped - he would jump right up and be ready to go! Haydon learned so many different techniques and skills that he will continue to develop as he grows into his Goalie role. As a young goalie, Haydon has been determined for over a year now to practice and learn as much as he can to be a strong goalie. The skills you taught Haydon this week will allow him a tremendous variety to practice each and every day! Thank YOU for all YOU do to support youth hockey!!!! You are truly an inspiration and fantastic role model..

I just wanted to thank you for the great week you and your staff provided for Geoff and Andrew at your camp in Buffalo. They had a terrific time, worked hard and learned a lot. I know you see a ton of goalies over the summer. Geoff was the one that won “hardest working” goalie and both boys won the “Ear of Korn” award which is prominently displayed. When I was growing up in Buffalo I got a thrill when Ken Dryden (Montreal) faced his brother Dave (Buffalo) in net. Very Cool. Who knows, maybe Saltarelli vs.Saltarelli (two Jews!) will make additional history some day!! Ah dreams. Thanks again for all you do for the boys in both hockey and more importantly with life lessons.
